Our goal is to recreate the look and spirit of hot rod drag racing from the late 1940s, 1950s, and early 1960s. This is a Pre-1957 Nostalgia Drag Racing event. If you’re unsure about your combination, just ask—we’re happy to help.
General Requirements
● All hot rods and race cars must have a period-correct late ’40s, ’50s, or early ’60s appearance.
● No tunnel ram or dual-quad intakes (Gassers exempt with approval).
● No aluminum mag wheels (Front Engine Dragsters exempt).
● No Torque Thrust wheels.
● No power adders unless period-correct and pre-approved (examples: McCulloch supercharger, GM 3-71/4-71 blower).
● No disc brakes.
● No radial tires.
● No visible billet accessories, including pulleys or water pumps.
Pre-Shovelhead Harley-Davidsons only (Knucklehead 1936–1947, Panhead 1948–1965).
● Flathead Harley-Davidsons are strongly encouraged (primarily 1929–1973 side-valve models).
● No modern Harley-Davidson models.
● Pre-1980 European and Japanese motorcycles are allowed (examples include Triumph, BSA, Norton, and similar period-correct machines).
● All motorcycles must maintain a vintage drag racing appearance consistent with the era.
Flatheads
● Any Flathead 4, 6, V8, or V12
OHV Engines
● Early Hemi: 331 / 354 / 392
● Early Oldsmobile: 303 / 324 / 371 / 394
● Early Cadillac: 331 / 365 / 390
● Early Ford: FE and Y-Block
● Early Studebaker
● Early Chevrolet: 265 / 283 / 327 / 350 (Pre-1986 with traditional center-bolt heads only)
Chevrolet combinations require approval and must use period-correct induction such as:
● 3x2
● 4x2
● 6x2
● Hilborn injection
Every vehicle must have:
✅ Good bias-ply tires (no dry rot or major cracking)
✅ No major oil leaks
✅ Functional lap belts or racing harness
✅ DOT or Snell-approved helmet (vintage appearance encouraged)
✅ Radiator overflow catch bottle
✅ Good working brakes
✅ Long pants, shirt, and closed-toe shoes.
Front Engine Dragsters (FEDs) additionally require:
● Fire suit
● DOT/Snell-approved helmet
If you’re unsure whether your car fits the spirit of the event, send us photos before registering. We’d much rather approve a car ahead of time than disappoint someone upon arrival or at tech inspection.

We started Northeast Vintage Drags with a simple goal in mind: to create events that make it fun and completive for hot rod owners who share the passion of days gone by, early automotive technology and the need for speed . Our journey has been a long and winding one, but we're proud of what we've accomplished so far.

We are a group of friends who put on these events and focus on our Families, Friendships, American automotive history and preserving early drag racing history that started aover 70 years ago.
We're looking for partners who appreciate what NEVD is all about and wants to see events like ours continue.
If that's you or the company you represent, please contact us.
